DJ Funk Avy at the Loft Cebu August 27

About Dj Funk Avy
Arvin, better known in the club scene as Funk Avy has been a dj for almost 8 years. He started honing his skills at the legendary Kemistry in Malate and later became the resident Dj in Club Centro (Libis) and Club Halo (Makati) spinning house to techno, playing live electronica, mixing effects into his sets, incorporating samples, drum machines and the art of turntablism. His “We Love Manila” E.P. was signed by French label Fusion Recordings in 2005, making him one of the first Filipinos to be signed by a foreign record label. His original productions have come out in several compilations released internationally such as Fashion TV Winter Session 05/06, Fashion House and the Best of Mega Techno. 2007 he became a part of LOCAL E, a group of locally based djs, musicians and producers. Together with the group, they became the music phone endorsers of Nokia who helped them launch their “The Assembly Album”.

The second big project of Funk Avy with LOCAL E that year was “Bravo FIlipino” a festival of Philippine art, music and fashion by the Ayala Group of Companies. This celebration of Filipino talent and creativity formally launched Greenbelt 5. After Funk Avy’s contract with Nokia he then signed a new contract with another big cellphone company, Motorola. With the release of two new phones, the ROKR E8 and the W230, Motorola has started the Moto Mash Up campaign featuring “Uh Oh (Funk Avy Remix)” a collaboration between Funk Avy with the indie band Taken By Cars, supported by a nationwide promotion with an official music video shown on MYX and MTV.

Funk Avy also remixed two other tracks from Taken By Cars, “Stereolove” and “December 2 Chapter VII”.  He also did a lot of remixes for other local bands and artists like Pedicab, Project 1, Sinosikat, Girl Valencia and Medwin Marfill. Late 2008 he worked with Brian Cua A.K.A. Suntheory for a mainstream remix of Hong Kong’s local club scene anthem “Rainbow” by Dj Stonedog feat. Olynn. Funk Avy’s recent release under Fusion Recordings France is a remix of French dj/producer Da Fresh’s new track “Broken Dream” and is now available worldwide.

The Loft Cebu is located at 3/F Skyrise Bldg, Asia Town IT Park. For tickets & table reservation please call 09087322444 & 09214797510.
